Picking out your child’s A Levels can be a big struggle if they’re unsure of what they want to choose, but it can be made a lot easier with the help of others who can advise them. If they are in need of some guidance, here are some ways you can help that this private school in Somerset can help.
Discuss with your child what they enjoy in school
There are probably a fair few subjects your child loves at school, which can help them nail down exactly what they’re going to pick up when it comes to their A Level choices. Part of this should be done even before they work on their GCSEs, as what they achieve in their GCSEs will determine what subjects they can take at A Level.
Work out their expectations
Your child may want to pick out particular A Level subjects in order to reach a specific course in University. If that’s the case, then they can pay particular attention to certain subjects that will help elevate their position. It gives them a bigger level of focus, too, so that they know what they need to achieve and what they need to do to reach their goals.
Similarly, there’s no point in giving your child too much to stress over. Set out their expectations early on to help them work on a good revision schedule, goals and what they need to do their best.
Show them a flavour of A Level study
A Level studies are a bit more complex than regular GCSEs, and will give children a lot more to focus on. You can give them a taste of what it’s like by attending open evenings (usually organised by the school) and taking a look through mock exams or past papers to give them an idea of what they’d be asked in the exam.
