It’s not so easy to keep your financial life in good order, to put aside some savings, and to make some extra money on the side, when your entire life feels like a completely chaotic vortex, and you’ve just got no idea what to do to set things in order.

If you find yourself in this situation, it can be really easy to lose hope, and to spiral downwards in a big way.

Take a deep breath instead. Try these tips, and you might be able to pull things back together sooner rather than later.



Make a list of the basic tools you need to set your life in order, and plan how to get them


If you give it some careful thought, you might realise that there are certain basic tools you need in order to set your life in order. Just what these tools actually are will vary from person to person, depending on your particular circumstances.

It might be that a major source of trouble for you is the fact that you don’t have a vehicle at your disposal, and so can’t look for jobs further afield, struggle getting your kids to school and back, and are losing touch with your friends due to distance.

In this case, you could look into companies such as and think about ways of solving the problem in a quick and affordable manner.

You won’t necessarily be able to get all the basic tools you need in order to set your life on track, overnight. But you can definitely make a list of what those tools are, and then begin planning how to get them.



Start by organising your immediate environment, then organise yourself


Chaos tends not to be the kind of thing that only hits one area of your life at a time. Instead, if you feel like you’ve lost all control over what’s going on in your own life, that sense of chaos and disorder will typically manifest itself on multiple levels

One of the best ways of beginning to reclaim control, therefore, is to start by organising your immediate environment as soon as possible. When your home is tidy, de-cluttered, and neat, you’ve won back a bit of territory.

From there, begin organising yourself. Create a daily schedule and routine that you follow meticulously. Analyse your habits, and work on dissolving bad ones.

Every step you take along this path will be a step towards a more orderly and manageable life.



Brainstorm your goals, think of what you need to do in order to achieve them, and begin taking small actions


It’s easy to feel like things are completely topsy-turvy and uncertain, if you don’t have any clear goals to work towards, or any clear sense of what you should be doing at any given moment.

Sit down for a while with a pen and paper (or keyboard) and brainstorm your goals. Think of what it is you really want to achieve in life – and focus on stuff that seems deeply meaningful to you.

Then, once you’ve come up with a few goals that seem worthwhile for now, begin taking small actions towards them, day by day. It might be that you begin with something as simple as making a phone call or checking a website. Then, take the next step. And the next one. And keep going.
